Questions about NA in Evanston

How many meetings are near Evanston?

The count is 27 meetings, which the table above breaks down by day.

Which day has the most meetings in Evanston?

If you want the most choice, Saturday carries 6 of them.

Are there open meetings in Evanston?

11 open meetings, which family and friends may also attend.

Where near Evanston are the meetings held?

They are spread over 2 towns, the busiest being Chicago with 25 and Glenview with 2.

Which meetings have wheelchair access?

There are 11 accessible venues within reach.

Do I have to pay to go to a meeting?

Meetings cost nothing to attend, and that is a tradition rather than an offer. A basket goes round partway through, and what goes in it pays for the room and the coffee. It is the same at every group, in every town above.

What should I expect at my first NA meeting?

The format is plain: a short opening, then members speaking in turn, then a close. You can say you are new, or say nothing at all, and both are normal. Afterwards a few people normally stay behind, and that is the easiest moment to ask a question.

Should I go to detox or to a meeting?

They are not alternatives to each other. Insurance covers addiction treatment in most plans, and what yours covers is a question with an actual answer. If the question is whether stopping on your own is safe, ask a doctor before the next meeting.
