Questions people ask about Lifeways

What programs does Lifeways offer?

They provide inpatient residential and telemedicine. The nearest alternative is in Payette, 3.6 miles away, if you want something to compare it against.

Does Lifeways offer a detox?

No, and nothing else within 14 miles of Ontario offers one either, so that part will mean a longer drive or a referral.

Does Lifeways treat people who are pregnant?

They treat pregnant and postpartum clients. Ask whether prenatal care is on site or coordinated with somewhere else in Ontario.

Is telehealth available at Lifeways?

They offer telemedicine, so some of this can be done by video rather than traveling into Ontario.

Is there anything in Ontario besides paid treatment?

Ontario has 7 AA groups, which is a different thing from treatment and a useful one next to it.

Will they take my medication away?

Most of what you take carries on. The exceptions are decided clinically rather than by policy. Pregnancy changes medication decisions substantially and needs specialist input. Write the list with doses and prescriber names before the first call.

Is there anything for the family?

There is a role, and it is a bigger one than most people expect going in. Living with somebody in early recovery changes a household's routine, and family sessions are where that gets planned. Ask how often the family sessions meet and whether they happen in person.

What happens to school?

A medical leave is the normal route, and the reason given to an employer can stay general. A phased return on reduced hours is a normal accommodation, and it is easier to agree before the leave than after it. Ask the program what its letter to an employer actually says.
