Nothing matches all of those at once. Try taking one off.
What these mean
- Open
- Anyone may attend, including family, friends and people who are simply curious. Nobody has to say why they came.
- Closed
- For people who have a desire to stop drinking. If you are not sure that is you, an open meeting is the safe first choice.
- Newcomer
- Aimed at people at their first few meetings. Someone will usually explain how it works before it starts.
- Women
- Only women attend.
- Wheelchair Access
- The room can be reached and used in a wheelchair.
- Child-Friendly
- Children are welcome in the room.
- Secular
- Run without religious content. The steps are used without prayer.
- Discussion
- A topic is raised and whoever wants to speak does. You can sit through the whole hour without saying anything.
- Speaker
- One member tells their own story for most of the hour. Nothing is asked of anyone else, which makes it the easiest kind to sit through on a first visit.
- Big Book
- Reading and discussion from Alcoholics Anonymous, the book members call the Big Book.
- 12 Steps & 12 Traditions
- Study of the book Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions.

Questions about AA in Felicity
How many AA meetings are within driving distance of Felicity?
84 inside 20 miles, across 17 cities. Every row says which town it is in and how far.
Which day is busiest for AA in Felicity?
Every day. Wednesday is the busiest with 15 meetings, and no day is empty.
What is the difference between an open and a closed meeting in Felicity?
62 of the 84 listed here are marked open, which means anyone can attend, including family. 19 are marked closed, for people who want to stop drinking.
Will a meeting sign proof of attendance?
Yes in the majority of rooms, and no in a minority. A few groups decline because they take the view that A.A. should not be part of a legal process, and that is a legitimate position within the fellowship. Arriving before the start is the practical answer.
Is going to meetings enough on its own?
No. Nobody at a meeting is a clinician and nobody there claims to be. A.A. is not affiliated with this site or with any treatment provider, and takes no money from either. A meeting is not an assessment, and an assessment is not something a room can give you.
Can I go to AA if I am an atheist?
Not a religion, and not affiliated with one, though the language in the steps is plainly borrowed from one. Secular and agnostic meetings exist specifically for people who find the language a barrier, and the table says so where a group does. If the language is the sticking point, try two different rooms before deciding, because they really are not alike.
