Questions about AA in Irving

What is listed near Irving?

15 within 25 miles, which is how far this page had to reach to show you a full week. 7 are in Irving itself.

Which day is busiest for AA in Irving?

Every day. Monday is the busiest with 3 meetings, and no day is empty.

Can I go to a meeting in Irving if I am not sure I am an alcoholic?

9 of the 15 listed here are marked open, which means anyone can attend, including family. 6 are marked closed, for people who want to stop drinking.

What is the difference between a group and a meeting?

2 groups, the largest being Crc with 5 meetings a week.

Why does this page show meetings in other towns?

Some are. 8 of the 15 above are outside Irving, the nearest of them in Gillespie, and each row says which town and how far.

What happens at my first AA meeting?

Someone chairs it, somebody reads something, and people talk in turn. What people talk about is their own drinking and what they do about it, not yours. The hour runs to a shape, and the shape is the part nobody tells you in advance.

Is it all right to turn up having had a drink?

Yes. The requirement is a desire to stop, not having managed it. The part to take seriously is that stopping alcohol abruptly after heavy daily drinking can be medically dangerous, which puts it with a doctor rather than with a meeting. If the physical side is what worries you, raise it with a doctor before you stop.
